Battery cases have been became a mainstream commodity for tech enthusiasts. Whether you are a mobile phone gamer or are into film making and photography, battery cases has made the lives of their owner better. No drama.

One of the better brands for such battery cases is Zerolemon. They provide battery cases with superior quality that allows for a streamline experience especially those who use high-end smartphones.

Zerolemon has become the staple for power users in maximizing their mobile phones with zero compensation (get it?). Yes, our phones become bulky and would lack in the aesthetic department when we utilize such cases, but it very much makes up for the extra protection and doubled battery life without the wire and the fear of getting tangled with such.

The case for Huawei P20 Pro and the iPhone XS are no different from what we expect from a brand like Zerolemon.

The Huawei P20 Pro on this photo is sporting Nova Launcher with IOS Icon Pack on top of IOS theme from the Theme Store of Huawei, both of which are available on Google Play Store. The iPhone XS only has a default launcher where everything is cluttered leaving little to no customization.

The Huawei P20 Pro is the twin brother of last year’s Phone of the Year – The Mate 20 Pro, to which I don’t know why they even bothered to have them separately, I guess the P series is their answer to Samsung’s S series while the Mate is to Samsung’s Note line. But don’t quote me on this one.

The iPhone XS is the successor to the iPhone X that got mixed responses from consumers. With the XS, it is now streamlined and was received surprisingly well, better than it’s predecessor.

These high-end smartphones of 2018 deliver the latest and greatest the tech industry has to offer. Both are two of the best reiterations from their respective platforms. They have great camera features as well as signature unibody design that stands out from the rest of the pack – the iPhone XS sports a modest Gold design (aside from the existing two colors) while the Huawei P20 Pro introduced Twilight.

The Zerolemon made sure that their cases will do justice to these already awesome devices.

Spoiler Alert: As of the time of our order, Zerolemon Philippines didn’t have stock of the case for the iPhone XS so we got the case for the X model instead.

Two Zerolemon packages just came in the mail today. It’s Christmas time again folks!

The Huawei P20 Pro Case

First of, the ZL Case for the Huawei P20 Pro sports a 5,000mah capacity. It will, in paper, make the device into a 9,000mah. Owners of this case will be happy to know that this case has 3 LED display lights to notify the battery level of the unit and an ON/OFF button unlike my last ZL case (for the LG V20 which didn’t have both led indicators nor a button as it automatically functions as soon as you turn on the device). In addition, the Huawei P20 Pro case

The body is reminiscent to the original iPhone X battery with a slim, bendable top and hard, thick bottom. (image from the Zerolemon website)

In a brief comparison from other ZL cases we’ve had in the past, the ugly chin is noticeably gone leaving a good visual illusion of thinness with only the fingerprint sensor area occupying the bottom part of the real estate. Also, Zerolemon lost the boxy design. Gone are the edgy corners of the case in favor of smooth grooves to retain a little bit of the design language the phone manufacturer intended.

The iPhone X Case

The iPhone X ZL Case on the other hand, looks a lot better than original Apple recommended battery case with a uniform thickness in all corners (unlike the P20 Pro case). Different from the Huawei P20 Pro, this case has 4 LED indicators and that instead of bending the top to fixate the phone (like the Apple version and the ZL P20 Pro), this particular case’s top slides off to allow the phone to be inserted, leaving full protection top and bottom.

The iPhone X Case by ZL looks a lot more polished than it’s ugly counterpart from Apple. Also, it sports a huge difference from the capacity the original provided.

Speaking of bottom, the iPhone X case by ZL utilized the tunnel feature they implemented with their LG G2 and G3 where the speaker is front facing, moving the sound coming from the phone’s bottom firing speaker towards the user. This is helpful to those who loved having their audio blast in front of them (which should be the case) instead of downward. But of course, such design required that the case have a chin for the new speaker grill.

Unboxing

Experience

The Zerolemon cases for both the iPhone X and Huawei P20 Pro adds up thickness to the devices. Yet knowing that it’s twice the battery makes it acceptable.

I’ve yet to ask the missus for her impression for her iPhone’s case. On the other hand, the Huawei case is actually not as thick as I thought it would be, despite the fact that the battery is non-removable.
